Chandenie Gobardhan is a Dutch dancer and choreographer based in London. They completed their BA in Contemporary Dance in the Netherlands and moved to the UK to continue their studies with the MA in Contemporary Dance Performance (VERVE) at NSCD. Having their movement vocabulary enriched by techniques from Bharatanatyam, Hip-hop and Contemporary Dance, Gobardhan enjoys experimenting with different techniques to reinvent the ways they can be used. What is most interesting to them is finding different ways of building bridges where others might not see that possibility. Gobardhan’s work is typically led by connecting stories and knowledge they have gathered on their path in the Hindoestaanse diaspora. Their artistry enables them to share the important but often unheard stories they have inherited from the strong people who paved the way for them. Chandenie has been commissioned to create work for the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, The Place and The Royal Docks and has enjoyed working with artists such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Botis Seva, House of Absolute and Vidya Patel.
